HI - you may not check here anymore, but we have a dog that may have lupus. Her nose has been getting more pink throughout her life, but she is also getting black spots on formerly white areas (as you described).
Since December she has been going downhill. The list of things the vets have thought she had is extensive. She nearly died of pneumonia.
We're coming close to the end of it here, I think - and I have blogged about it some but haven't updated recently.
Did you dog get lame or lose appetite or have come-and-go symptoms like heart & lung problems? Or high fevers?
Did he pass away on his own, or did you help him when it became too painful for him? I'm having a hard time knowing when to let her suffering end. Every time we think it's the end she will rally for a day.
